The partnership forms part of the Group's continued investment in technology and digital solutions, providing TaxAssist Accountants practices with greater choice and support when recommending cloud accounting software to their clients.
Following a review of banking and technology partnerships across the network, TaxAssist identified FreeAgent as a platform already achieving strong levels of adoption and engagement across a number of its practices.
Formalising the relationship will provide additional support for franchisees already using FreeAgent, while making it easier for other practices to introduce the platform to new and existing clients.
FreeAgent provides a cloud-based system through which users can manage areas including invoicing, expenses, banking, cash flow, bookkeeping and UK tax obligations. The platform is designed to help small business owners reduce their administrative burden while giving them greater visibility of their financial position.
The partnership will give TaxAssist franchisees access to preferential commercial arrangements, enhanced onboarding support and updated training resources. It will also provide a more consistent approach to introducing FreeAgent as part of the network's wider digital technology offering.
Katie Hawking, Director of Group Operations at TaxAssist Accountants, said: "As the needs of small businesses continue to evolve, it's important that we offer our franchise network access to trusted technology partners that deliver genuine value for both accountants and their clients.
“FreeAgent is already well established across many of our practices, so formalising this partnership is a natural progression. It enables us to provide greater support, consistency and commercial benefits across the network while continuing to give franchisees the flexibility to recommend solutions that best meet their clients' needs."
Stewart Hurd, Chief Sales Officer at FreeAgent, said: “We’re delighted to announce this new partnership with TaxAssist which will see us deliver our market-leading MTD solution and award-winning support across the full TaxAssist group.
“TaxAssist is one of the biggest names in the UK accounting industry, so partnering with them is a real testament to the hard work we’ve made over the past few years in evolving FreeAgent into the software of choice for accountancy practices and the small businesses they work with.
“We look forward to supporting every TaxAssist firm so they can ensure their small business and unincorporated landlord clients manage the transition to MTD for Income Tax as seamlessly as possible.”
The partnership reflects The TaxAssist Group's broader strategy of building an integrated ecosystem of technology, banking, software and fintech providers.
By developing relationships with specialist partners, the Group aims to give its franchise network access to tools, expertise and commercial arrangements that can support efficient, compliant and future-ready accounting services.
Further guidance, onboarding materials and resources will be introduced across the network over the coming months. FreeAgent will also have the opportunity to engage directly with franchisees at the upcoming TaxAssist Accountants Conference.
