With the COVID-19 pandemic enforcing change and adaption, TaxAssist Accountants has successfully delivered its Initial Training Course virtually. As a result, a new extended and enhanced hybrid training and support programme has been developed for new franchisees joining the network on the June 2022 course onwards.

Head of Group Training, Samantha Skyring, FCCA, ACIPP, MAAT, explains: “It soon became apparent that for certain types of training, virtual delivery works very well.  As a result, a new seven-week initial training course has been developed, which is a mixture of both face-to-face and virtual delivery.

“We have reworked the itinerary of the course to ensure every franchisee is trained in the most effective way and have expanded the scope of the course, with a real focus on the practical side of running and managing a practice, alongside the theory of compliance work. We trialled this on our initial training course earlier this year, which resulted in extremely positive feedback from the delegates.

“With software playing such a vital role in helping clients maintain their records, through to accountants preparing accounts and tax returns, to ensuring efficient and profitable operation within the practice, it makes sense that our training reflects this.

“Former Non-Executive Director and franchisee Mark Fordham has taken on the role of Franchise Development Manager and is supporting new UK franchisees in their first year, providing a mix of technical, business development, general management and business planning advice and support. Mark is an invaluable resource, passing on his knowledge and experience to help newer franchisees as they launch and grow their practices.

“We have also extended the follow-up nurture training programme from 6 to 24 months to best support franchisees in the early years of operation.”

The Initial Training Course covers all aspects of the TaxAssist Accountants business model and prepares new franchisees for trading as a TaxAssist accountant with a wide range of accountancy, tax, software, sales and marketing topics. It is delivered by an in-house team of qualified accountants and trainers in conjunction with specialist training partners.

All accommodation and meals are included for any residential period of the Initial Training Course during which franchisees get to meet and know the Support Centre staff.

If you would like to build your own accountancy practice, a TaxAssist franchise can provide the systems and support you need to be successful. Regular Virtual Discovery Days are being held, where you can find out more about the technical, marketing and business development support on offer.
