In the US, TaxAssist Accountants will now be known as TaxAssist Advisors. The decision was made as part of a plan to move the focus of the service offering away from a purely compliance function, to the many services that come under the advisory umbrella. There are also restrictions on who can call themself an accountant in certain US States, which accelerated the change.
Daren Moore FCCA, Group Operations Director, said: “We truly believe that the change of name is a positive one for both ourselves, our franchisees and their clients.
“With developments within the industry, advancements in technology and client demand for a broader, year-round offering, the term ‘Advisors’ is a more suitable name given what our franchisees can offer. ‘Accountants’ is a relatively narrow descriptive word, and ‘Advisors’ gives us much greater flexibility on the range of services we offer now and may offer in the future.
“The TaxAssist franchise and Area Representative opportunities are open to experienced accountants working in industry, full-time tax preparers looking to scale up their business, individuals with a strong financial services or banking background, as well as those that already own an accounting or tax practice they wish to develop as part of a global brand. The change of name, we believe, will stop people believing it is a requirement to be a licensed CPA to join us.”
