The shop on 184 Marsh Road in Leagrave opened in July. “Last year I decided the time was right to move back here and set up my own practice using my vast experience and knowledge to help small businesses. The support from TaxAssist has been invaluable and I’m confident the office will be a great addition to the local small business community in and around Luton,” said Umer.
“With the government’s plans to digitise the tax system on the horizon, we will be offering expert advice to help small businesses improve the quality of record keeping, and manage their reporting more effectively.”
Umer, who has taken on one part-time staff member and is looking to recruit further staff early next year, added: “The office is right in the heart of Luton with parking spaces available at the back of the shop so it’s easy for clients to find us and drop in. I’m planning on having an official launch party later this year to invite clients, other local small business owners and my neighbours.”
Umer used an £82,800 business loan from NatWest, using the government backed Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme, to facilitate the opening of the shop.
